Dressmaker System Requirements
Last updated . Dressmaker is a fan-made guide and is not affiliated with the developers.

Dressmaker is a small game, and the official specs say so. Steam asks for Windows 10 or later, an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen processor, 8 GB of RAM, Intel UHD 630 or better graphics and DirectX 11. On Mac it asks for an Apple M1 and 8 GB of RAM. Both platforms need 1 GB of free storage.
That is the entire list. Steam publishes a minimum tier only for Dressmaker: there is no recommended column to compare it against, and no Linux requirement block. If you have a Windows laptop or an Apple Silicon Mac from the last few years, you are almost certainly fine. The dressmaker game is a hand-drawn 2D crafting sim, not a 3D world; the rest of this page explains why, and what to try if it misbehaves anyway.

Windows (minimum)
| Windows - minimum | Requirement |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 or later |
| Processor | Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Intel UHD 630 or Better |
| DirectX | Version 11 |
| Storage | 1 GB available space |
macOS (minimum)
| macOS - minimum | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Processor | Apple M1 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Storage | 1 GB available space |
Disk space and download size
The storage line says 1 GB, the round number the publisher typed into Steam's field. The real figures come from SteamDB, which tracks Steam's depots.
| Item | Size |
|---|---|
| Windows depot, installed | 1.19 GiB |
| macOS depot, installed | 1.22 GiB |
| Windows download | roughly 296 MB |
| macOS download | roughly 309 MB |
An installed copy is a little over a gigabyte on either platform; the download is about a third of that, because Steam compresses what it sends you.
Will it run on my machine?
Here is what each line is really asking for.
Windows, line by line
- Windows 10 or later. 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. No compatibility mode, no launcher tricks.
- Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen. Steam names no generation, so read it as "a mainstream desktop or laptop chip from the last decade." Only budget Celeron and Atom parts fall below it.
- 8 GB of RAM. The line that disqualifies old machines. 8 GB has been the standard laptop amount since around 2016; a 2015 budget laptop with 4 GB falls short.
- Intel UHD 630 or better. The real graphics floor, and it sits lower than it sounds.
- DirectX 11. Every Windows graphics chip since roughly 2010 supports it. Nothing to check.
- 1 GB available space. Any machine with a working SSD has room.
What "Intel UHD 630 or better" actually means
Intel UHD 630 is integrated graphics - a GPU built into the processor rather than a separate card. It shipped in Intel's 8th-generation chips from around 2017 onward and became the standard "no graphics card" option in office PCs and thin laptops.
So the floor is this: integrated graphics from about 2017 or newer. If your computer was built in the last several years and has no dedicated GPU, its built-in graphics are almost certainly at or above that line - Intel's later Iris Xe and Arc chips and AMD's Ryzen integrated graphics are all well clear of it. And if you do have a separate card, even a modest one from the last decade clears UHD 630 comfortably.
Mac: Apple M1 and newer
The macOS minimum names Apple M1 and nothing else, which means Apple Silicon. Any M1, M2, M3 or M4 Mac meets it, and the base 8 GB configuration is enough on paper.
An Intel Mac is not covered by the published requirement, and we will not pretend otherwise. Steam's field lists Apple M1 as the minimum and the developers have published nothing about Intel-based Macs, so treat an Intel Mac as outside the official spec. The Dressmaker demo page is the honest way to test the water first.
Example machines and a verdict
| Your machine | Verdict |
|---|---|
| Older laptop with integrated graphics (roughly 2016-2019, Intel HD or UHD graphics) | Usually fine, with one caveat: it clears the graphics line only if it has 8 GB of RAM. A 4 GB model fails on memory, not on the GPU. |
| Modern thin-and-light (2021 or newer, Iris Xe or Ryzen integrated graphics, 16 GB RAM) | Comfortably above the minimum. |
| Gaming desktop or laptop with a dedicated GPU | Far above the minimum - nothing here to tune. |
| Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) | Meets the published minimum exactly, or beats it. |
| Intel Mac, any model | Not covered by the official spec, so we cannot say it runs. |
Storage and download notes
The install is tiny - about 1.2 GB - so it fits on a laptop SSD with no spring cleaning, alongside everything else on a 256 GB drive.
One oddity: the free prototype downloads are bigger than the full game. The 0.5.5 zips on itch.io are 115 MB for Windows, 127 MB for Linux and 128 MB for macOS, compressed. The prototype is a separate build with its own Linux version, so it says nothing about the released game.
If Dressmaker stutters or will not start
Work through these in order. The first two fix most problems.
- Close the background apps. Browsers full of tabs, Discord overlays and cloud-sync clients all take a slice of the same 8 GB. On a machine that only just meets the RAM line, that is often the whole difference.
- Update your graphics driver. Integrated Intel graphics improve noticeably with driver updates, and Windows Update often leaves you on an old one. Get the current driver from Intel, AMD or NVIDIA directly.
- Lower the resolution. Drawing fewer pixels is the oldest fix in PC gaming and it still works. If the game offers a window size or quality setting, drop it a step.
- Verify the game files in Steam. Right-click Dressmaker in your library, open Properties, then Installed Files, and run "Verify integrity of game files."
- Check the game's own settings menu. The developers have not published a list of graphics options, so the menu itself is the authority.
Crashes, black screens and the macOS security prompt get a longer checklist on the Dressmaker troubleshooting page. If the game runs fine and you are stuck on your first commission, the how to play Dressmaker walkthrough is the better place to be.
The fine print
Everything above was copied from the official Steam listing on September 21, 2026, the game's launch day. Requirement fields are editable publisher text: they get corrected, tightened and occasionally rewritten when a game is patched, so any line in those tables could move. The platform list is worth re-checking too - the Dressmaker Steam release date page tracks it.
Trust the official Steam page over this page. If the two disagree, Steam is right.
